Best Movies of 2018 | My Top 15 Must-Watch Film Recommendations

hey what’s up guys Happy New Year
hope you’re all doing well and had a good 2018 I know it’s been quite a while
I had quite a busy last three months but I’m looking forward to getting back on track
and releasing my top 15 movies of the year just because I wasn’t posting as
often doesn’t mean I wasn’t watching many movies because I was still doing
that if not more so and again just like the previous year this will feature my
best genre awards for each movie as well alright without further ado let’s kick
it off with number 15 best anime goes to The Night is Short, Walk on Girl this was
hands-down my favorite anime film of the year while I really enjoyed Mirai from
director Mamoru Hosoda as well as Mary and the Witch’s Flower I’ve really come to
enjoy the film’s from Masaaki Yuasa the animation was so different everything
was super fast paced and fun very memorable and enjoyable I can’t wait to
see it and buy it on blu-ray when it comes out this month and number 14 for
best thriller Upgrade this is one of those films that went way under the
radar I don’t personally know anyone who’s seen it yet yet this is one that
really deserves more attention the action camerawork plot and overall
pacing was fantastic and the payoff is definitely worth seeing to the end to
discuss with your friends at number 13 for best mystery Searching this is one
of those films that gets you right into it simply by its design alone it’s told
in a very unique fashion it feels so down-to-earth and you really
kind of feel like you are looking into something that feels very real or that
could happen the performances are great and again the end results here are
really worth sticking it out for another that comes highly recommend at number 12
for best sci-fi Annihilation yet another film that not a lot of people saw but
also wasn’t quite as intriguing to most but may not have been everyone’s cup of
tea either this is a slow enthralling and intense sci-fi film and I absolutely
adored it I saw it twice just because I had to see it with some friends this is
a smart film that will really make you think definitely give it a shot if you
haven’t seen it yet at number 11 for Best Adventure Avengers infinity war
alright so here we go finally a film that pretty much everyone and their
mother has seen but it’s okay if you haven’t huge epic story with tons and
tons of characters and people on screen and all at
the same time and despite everything going on how much fun and how crazy this
film gets what really makes it as the end result and how it never goes quite
how you’d expect unless you read the comics at number 10 for best biography
BlacKkKlansman I’ve enjoyed many of Spike Lee’s films in the past and seeing
Denzel’s son John David Washington simply kill it in this role was really a sight
to behold especially given the premise while this film is mostly a drama there
is some comedy but I have to give it to the way this film closes which for some
may have been too much but for myself it really hammered the message home and
stayed with me for a long time at number nine for best horror Hereditary
this was probably my highest anticipated film of 2018 while the experience seeing it in the theater could have been a bit better had some people taking everything
a bit more seriously and no one had fallen asleep and started snoring this
is everything I want in a horror film Toni Collette was fantastic everyone
else in this film was really good as well but she definitely deserves an
Oscar nomination at number eight for best fantasy Isle of Dogs
now this genre has many different meanings and connotations but I love
dogs as a film that I feel fits perfectly in it here we have a world
where dogs well for one can talk and it’s obviously set in a more futuristic
alternate universe than our own either way I had a blast with this film there
are some great references to things I really enjoy and it’s definitely a fun
time that I can’t wait to check out again at number seven for best romance
Phantom Thread now I know this film already went through awards season but
it actually was released in January so I’m counting it as this year but man the
performances are off the charts it’s a very slow-moving film but if you can
deal with that things begin to turn around by the end of it in a very
interesting way that I simply could not get out of my head a fantastic film that
definitely deserves to be seen at number six for best action Mission: Impossible
– Fallout I swear the numbers thing there is simply a coincidence first of
all the stunts in this film on a technical level are just simply amazing
while I’ve never been too big on many of the plots in Mission: Impossible films
the set pieces and choreography work so well together and I have to give credit
to Tom Cruise and everyone who put this film together they did a fantastic job
at number five for Best Comedy Eighth Grade this one definitely snuck up on me
and if any one of you have ever gone through Eighth Grade which I hope all of
you have or will be soon you will be able to relate to this film so
ferociously but nonetheless this is a fantastic film it’s hilarious great
performances Elsie Fisher is amazing and Bo Burnham did such a great job with his
directorial debut at number four for Best Family Paddington 2 this film is
just so good it’s so fun and it has so many great elements to it that I just
could not forget about it’s charming positive it’s got great characters and
an ending that I just absolutely adored this is another film that came out very
early in the year so I really hope most of you saw it at number three for Best
Documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor? while there were other documentaries I
enjoyed more from a technical level and just overall subject matter this is the
one that truly deserves the award this year because of how special this man was
and the fact that we probably won’t ever see someone quite like him again because
of how much good he left the world with whether you know everything about the
guy or nothing at all you need to give this one a try at number two for Best
Drama Call Me by Your Name yet another film I had to put on this list simply
due to the timing of when it came out this film hit me on such a huge
emotional level the story really pulls you in it makes you feel like you’re
part of all these scenes especially when they’re out in nature you feel like you’re
right there the overall message at the end hits so well so hard and the final
moments will really get you as we see a certain character act through the
credits at number one for best animation Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the
animation is so unique and awesome I can’t help but have little images of it
in the back of my mind it gets me excited to see it again just picturing
all these little parts the overall package was just so great and the film
itself was so much fun I have to say the experience of it and who I saw it with
made it that much better as there were things that only myself and these people
really could understand and appreciate simply put if there’s one movie you need
to see from 2018 this is it and there you have it guys that’s my top 15 movies
of 2018 which are of course diligent picks so I watched a total of at least
55 movies from 2018 this year so this was a pretty difficult list to number
down and there were plenty I haven’t seen yet so this list could have very
well been a little different I’d love to hear your thoughts which of these films
you haven’t seen that you now want to check out as well as some of your
favorites that you thought should have been included on my list that’s about it
for me guys I hope you have a great start to 2019 I’m going to try to commit

while but I can’t wait to make more content for you guys as always my name
