  1. Thanks for posting this video. I'm doing some research on minstrelsy and it's super helpful to have actual video instead of just descriptions.

  2. I cant believe how life was back than, that white people dressed up as black people like its a joke and now white people (some) are acting or sometimes even try to be like black people smh 🙁

  3. White dude has some rhythm and some pretty good moves (for the time) – has to pretend to be black for that to make sense.

  4. How did they get their hair, to look like that… and It would be Hilarious” if he couldn’t remove the black makeup” would he still be accepted as white….or would he be a outcast?

  5. It's not "racism". it's the performing arts. So it's sexist for a man to perform as a woman? No, and somehow being black changes something? Nah, it's a performance, an act. Not people going around doing it for kicks, it's a historically important piece of performing arts history.

  6. If you weren't aware of Jim Crow before Childish Gambino then this country has a shitload of work to do.

  7. It's easy to understand why Sammy Davis, Jr. Wanted nothing to so with tap dancing when he became such a huge star.

  8. Honestly I don’t feel sad about this it’s just more so disappointment and cringinistby what I’m seeing rn and looking at this just connects with what my great grandpas and grandmas had to go through during this time frame where you wake up turn on the tv and see white men dressed up like you and having to see that everyday while getting criticism on the tv and outside as well

  9. Seeing all of the cry baby liberals getting triggered makes it that much funnier. Remember when Dave Chappelle put flower on his face and pretended to be an white news anchor? Who cares.

  10. 1951?! This is just terrible. And now Trump's the president. Is this when america was great? It never was 🤦🏼‍♀️

  11. Was this seriously main stream entertainment t one point in history? Like if this was a expensive night out I’d hate to be alive

  12. I learned about this today at my school. Jim Crow is a character portrayed by a white man dressing up and covering himself in black paint in order to look like a black man. This was back in the day when Racism was okay in America and black people would be hanged from trees and treated unfairly by society, am I right?

  13. Im black but blackface has never offended me. Idk why but it just doesn't. This video was actually kind of entertaining.
