Dakota Johnson’s Favorite Comedian Isn’t Ellen

Dakota Johnson’s Favorite Comedian Isn’t Ellen

It’s good to see you. Happy– It’s good to see you, too. –belated birthday. When was your birthday? It was October 4. October 4. [LAUGHTER] You turned 30. I did. And how was the party? I wasn’t invited. Actually, no. That’s not the truth, Ellen. You were invited. Last time I was on
the show, last year, you gave me a bunch of [BLEEP]
about not inviting you. But I didn’t even know
you wanted to be invited. Well, who wouldn’t want
to be invited to a party? ‘Cause I didn’t even know you– Well, I didn’t even
know you liked me. [LAUGHTER] Of course I like you. You knew I liked you. You’ve been on the show many
times, and don’t I show like? [LAUGHTER] Yeah, you do. Yeah. But I did invite you,
and you didn’t come. So– This time you invited me? Yeah. Are you sure? Yeah. How do you know– I don’t think so. Ask everybody. [LAUGHTER] Ask Jonathan, your producer. Who says you were? OK. I was invited? Yeah, he’s right there. Why didn’t I go? I don’t know. [LAUGHTER] Was it– You were out of town. You were out of town. Oh, yeah. I had that thing. [LAUGHTER] It was probably in Malibu. That’s too far for me to go to. Yeah. Yeah. It was. Yeah. No, I think I do
remember I was invited. Thank you. You’re welcome. No, but I really didn’t
remember that until just now. And then– but Tig Notaro
performed at your party? She did. She did a set? She did. It was a surprise. What did she do? A bunch of funny stuff. She’s hilarious. She’s my favorite comedian. Other than you. [LAUGHTER] Bye. [LAUGHTER] Wow. I’m sorry. No, no. I was just talking to my
favorite actress the other day, Jen– [LAUGHTER] –Jen Aniston, and– She’s my favorite actress, too. [LAUGHTER] No, Tig is hilarious. But you saw her first
at my birthday party, so I feel like I
introduced her to you. Yes. Well, yeah. I heard about– because
I had left your birthday party before that happened. Oh, why? Gosh, this isn’t going well. No. I was out of town. I had to go out of town. [LAUGHTER] So you didn’t see what she
did at my birthday party? No, but what– she reenacted
it at my birthday party. Well, how would– why
would she do that if you didn’t know what she had done? She explained it. [LAUGHTER] Oh, my God. Yeah. But that’s what she
did at the party? She did a whole bit. It was– I mean, she did a
whole set, and it was, like, the greatest– Yeah. –thing ever. She’s very, very funny. Do you know who Tig Notaro is? If you don’t, find her. She’s pretty brilliant. Yeah, you– she
really is brilliant. And recently, you came to
our Gorillapalooza event. I did. Thank you for being there. Thank you for having me. And I don’t know if you saw,
but Chris Martin was there. And he performed,
and he was brilliant. He was. He was really good. Did you see him? I think I saw him– OK. –from afar. So let’s talk about your
movie Peanut Butter. [LAUGHTER] Oh. Let’s talk about
Peanut Butter Falcon. OK. It’s such a sweet movie,
and you talk about it. It is such a sweet movie. When I read the script, it was
one of the most special stories I’ve ever read. And the idea of
working with Zack, who I became really close with–
and the movie is so special. Shia is amazing, and– Yeah, Shia was here
not too long ago. We were talking
about that that’s the movie where he actually got
arrested during filming that and wrote Honey
Boy, which is bri– have you seen Honey Boy yet? I haven’t seen it yet. Ooh, it’s really good. Yeah. But how did you feel about when
he got arrested during filming? I mean, it could’ve
ruined the whole shoot. It was a really
kind of sad and– I felt very protective
of him, and I felt very– you know, that’s a really
terrifying and difficult journey for somebody
to experience, and I felt really aware of that. And I just– you know, we
were there to make this movie. And Zack is really a phenomenal
human being, and he kind of– you feel very awake to the
truth of life, and humanity, and love, and people,
and real connections when you’re with him. And I think that that
was just a kind of– a very important
moment for Shia. And I don’t condemn
people for their mistakes. I want them to get through it. So that’s what I tried to do. As we all should. As we all should, yeah. [APPLAUSE] We asked him a question
when he was here, and this is what he said. Who was your best
onscreen kiss with? [DING] Oh, oh. [MUMBLING] Yeah, you can. [BLEEP] Very important. This is the most
important question. Oh, Dakota Johnson. Oh, she’s cute. She’s a sweetheart. Yeah, good. All right. Yeah. [DING] What’s a lie that
you recently told? I just told one just now. All right. [LAUGHTER] The question right before. So we don’t know if that’s true. Maybe he– Classic. –was just saying that. But he said that it
was your kiss, so– Yeah, duh. Yeah. [LAUGHTER] Of course. Of course. All right. We’re going take a break, and
then we’re going to meet Zack. He’s going to come out here. Yeah. So he’s waiting. So we’ll be back.

  1. Yes. This was a wonderful video, great talks and great comedy BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT HER HAIR!!?? Her Stylist is killing the game!

  2. I came here cos I read something about it being awkward but I can't find the awkward part😏 it's just fun and real

  3. 🇲🇱I LOVE THIS 🇲🇱Show❤️ SO MUCH ❤️ ELLEN 💙 SHOW ❤️ IT'S MY FAVORITE ❤️💕🇲🇱🇲🇱💕 💕

  4. I expected this to be very awkward based off every News outlet was making it seem. Which was very misleading cause this interview was just adorable and funny.

  5. Sucks how women could have everything going for them, like Dakota, but primarily only be valued by their looks. (I.e the comments)

  6. I dont care for dakota johnson. She seems indifferent and kinda egotistical. Feels as emotionless as k stew.
    Also, f— Shia LaBeouf.

  7. honestly people said this was more awkward then it actually was 😂 the laughter made it much less awkward then i thought it was 🤷🏻‍♀️

  8. Ellen is kinda mean, but people let her get away with it cause her show is so big. She skipped Dakota's birthday to hang out with George Bush.

  9. You know what maybe Ellen isn’t used to celebrities not being “fake” back to her. To have to talk to so many celebs all the time Ellen must have to be a little fake. Her “thank you” seemed so genuine and surprised once she realized Dakota actually remembered inviting Ellen to her party. Entertainment business seems like one you might not be able to always tell who is genuine and who is not.

  10. The audience kept this from being too awkward. But this would have been unbearable if Ellen wasn't the pro she is. Everyone made this seem via twitter like they had a huge beef but it was all amiable.
