This is Pedro. He’s from Portugal. We’re going to watch and listen to him answering
a typical interview question. When it comes to movies, I prefer watching
them at the cinema. I know a lot of my friends would disagree
with me because they prefer to be in the comfort of their homes. But the experience is so much better with
the big screen and sound system. You can actually appreciate what you are watching. The living room on the sofa – it’s not really
the same. In Pedro’s response, he used a couple of expressions
that can be useful for your exam. Let’s listen to the first one. This structure can be used when answering any question during the speaking test. First, refer to the question or topic. And then, add your own comment. Let’s look at some examples of this structure
being used. We can use this structure to show how our own
opinion may be different to other people’s. Here are some ways we can apply it as a follow
up to the previous responses. Remember. In part one of the speaking exam, show the
assessor that you can use advanced level structures and vocabulary. With appropriate intonation, stress and clear
pronuncation.
