Godzilla: King of the Monsters – Official Trailer 1 – Now Playing In Theaters

Our world is
changing. The mass extinction
we feared… has already begun… and we are the cause. We are the infection. But like all living
organisms, the earth unleashed a fever
to fight this infection. Its original and rightful
rulers… the Titans. For thousands of
years… these creatures have remained in
hiding around the world. And unless all the Titans
are found… our planet will perish, and
so will we. They are the only guarantee
that life will carry on. You are out of your
goddamn mind! I am sorry, but this is
the only way. -You’re a monster.
-I’m sorry. Long live the king.

  1. Si tan solo la pelicula ubiese sido tan epica como el trailer, vaya mierda de pelicula fue, desperdiciaron a iconicos Kaijus como Mothra y Rodan para hacer una novela mexicana de una estupida familia.

  2. When it said next summer I could not stop thinking about the movie I was itching to see spoilers but I didn’t but when I finally saw it when it first came out I was speechless

  3. I already watched the movie it's self but I still watch the trailers it brings back memories of me thinking what the hell's going on how did happen why Godzilla's dorsal fins are not the 2014 design somethings like that.

  4. As a Godzilla fan, this movie was soo awesome! Absolutely incredible! But I’m gonna be honest, this trailer… THIS TRAILER. It’s too good, it’s just too good. So good that it set me up for something that I wanted really bad, but didn’t receive when I watched the movie. As great as the movie was, it didn’t live up to my expectations. My expectations weren’t for it to be good or not, but for it to be a bit more 2014-esc. This movie, though awesome, isn’t what I wanted it to be. I wanted it to be darker and slightly less story oriented. Most people complained about it in 2014, but I see it as one of its greatest things. Not the fact that we barely saw the monsters, but when we did see them in 2014, it was done right. I just hated it when they cut off in the worst part to cut off from. It just feels like this and 2014 aren’t even in the same universe and have a completely different tone. I think the colour of the film has something to do with it. Don’t get me wrong, the blue is beautiful, but I would’ve preferred a darker tone. Another thing is how this trailer portrays the monsters. It’s wayyy more terrifying yet beautiful than what we got in the movie. I wish for example the Rodan scene was slower and more impactful when he flew over the city, like it is here. And as much as I loved the soundtrack (one of my favourite things from the film), I wish along with it came a few tracks like this, to show you how awe inspiring these things really are. I don’t want anyone to think that I hate the film, it’s just that for five years, I anticipated a completely different and darker film. What we got was still incredible though.

  5. Is anyone going to talk about the scream of Millie Bobby Brown it reminded me of whenever she screams in stranger things.💓💓.

  6. This is still the best trailer I've ever seen even coming back to it over a year later after having seen the movie………..many many many many times.

  7. I saw the movie and I loved it. The action was near non-stop and the characters were a lot better than in 2014. Of course it wasn’t a perfect movie it is within the range of being a perfect Godzilla movie. The film itself was visually stunning giving ferocity and beauty to the monsters we normally don’t see in most Godzilla movies. Speaking of monsters, they were phenomenal! The films main villain Ghidorah was executed incredibly well making him feel like a living extinction event (unlike some marvel villains). He is able to causes storm equivalent to a Category Six hurricane. But no matter how strong a hurricane is, it cant pass a Category 5. But then again Ghidorah is an alien and has a separate natural order than ours, maybe this is like a hurricane from another planet.

Let me switch franchises for s sec, I love the MCU but unfortunately it has a lack of great villains however within recent years they have gotten better. Vulture, Hela, Loki, Killmonger, Zemo, Mysterio, Thanos and Ultron are such examples of great villains. When making a movie, you’ll need to make a villain as great as the hero of the story and sometimes Marvel does lack that sometimes.

Despite the movie being about Godzilla, Mothra took some of the spotlight and for good reason. Ever scene she’s in, she just looks beautiful my personal favourite being the reveal of her imago form under the waterfall. I’ve seen some people compare Captain Marvel to Mothra and saying Mothra is better and I kind of agree to that. I’ve seen Captian Marvel and I gotta say its one of my least favourite MCU films. The main character herself was bland and even lacked emotion in most of the film. Mothra on the other hand, despite her being a giant moth monster, she showed emotions through facial expressions and I felt bad after she died.

Rodan has a bit of resemblance to Starscream but yet he still has his time to shine when he flattened an entire city, took out 90% of a jet fleet on his own and even overpowered Ghidorah for a short amount of time. Then again Rodan always seemed to get the short end of the stick in in previous Godzilla films except in the Showa films.

And last but surely not least, Godzilla. Godzilla was treated extremely well and I loved his updated design. I was extremely hyped when Godzilla went thermonuclear to kill Ghidorah showing you’ll need a living fire bomb just to kill him.

I love that the monsters were able to show emotions not through talking but through facial expressions. The Lion King was a good movie but my major complain (and maybe everyone’s as well) is that the animals lacked facial expressions. I do know that the director wanted a realistic approach to the animals and I also know that animals show expression and emotion through movement (like a cat rubbing against you and purring or a dog wagging its tail). But if a giant radioactive monster can show more emotion than a cub who lost his own f*cking father to a wildebeest stampede than yeah, there is seriously something wrong. But then again it’s fiction so what do I know?

The characters were as I said before better than the characters than 2014, they don’t hold a candle up to MCU characters but I was expecting that. Anyways Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler) is the films protagonist and has a great character arc. Dr.Serizawa (Ken Watanabe) was also one of my favourites and does a whole lot more than he did in 2014. Originally 65 years ago Dr Daisuke Serizawa used an experimental weapon called the Oxygen Destroyer to kill the first Godzilla but 65 years later, its full circle. Instead Dr Ishiro Serizawa saves Godzilla and was given a noble end, Serizawa’s sacrifice was done incredibly well and Goodbye Old Friend was the perfect OST for this scene. There was a strong moment with Mark and Serizawa that added character depth and development to each of them and gave possibly the best speech I’ve seen in a Godzilla movie. Maddison Russell (Millie Bobby Brown) had a big role but left potential in KotM. But she’s returning in Godzilla Vs Kong so hopefully that can change. Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) had a great idea about a grieving mother out to burn the world in order to save it. But after releasing Ghidorah and realizing that Ghidorah is going to destroy the planet and not to save it, she switched sides. I would have preferred for her to stay evil but I think this was intentional to show that dragons do bring redemption in eastern cultures. The other characters were fun to be around but their roles were small.

The movie also did a really good job about world building with the expansion of MONARCH and of course into the mythology of the MonsterVerse. The Mass Awakening was also a really good scene giving this film a more apocalyptic feel with all of these monsters causing multiple disasters around the globe. I especially liked the hidden story in the credits and Godzilla’s lair showing that these creatures were worshipped as ancient gods.

Bear McCreary’s soundtrack I loved especially when Godzilla’s and Mothra’s originally theme came on. They used a Taiko Ensemble and Japanese Buddhist monks to give chants as if worshipping these creatures. Ghidorah’s theme uses Babylonian prayers to ward evil away which I found out to be clever.

I’ve talked about what I loved about the film but Ill talk about what I didn’t like. Mark’s character always seem to know everything even though he hasn’t used Monarchs equipment in a while and some of it is new. The film was fast paced so there really wasn’t enough time to hang on but the story was easy to follow along to so that complaint is minor.

Overall, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters proves to be not a perfect movie but a really really good Godzilla movie. Actually unlike the 1998 and 2014 movies, this film makes an effort to be a Godzilla movie and not just a generic Kaiju movie. I give it an 8/10.

What are your thoughts an the film?

  8. Godzilla king of the monsters took 4 years to come out after godzilla now godzilla vs kong will surely come out in the year 2023🤔

  9. Maybe the critics were die-hard Kong fans that wanted to give this movie bad reviews, as a means to prevent the can of whoop @ that Godzilla is gonna give him in the trilogy?

  10. Godzilla, King Of The Monsters, is a good old fashioned monster movie that benefits from modern special effects and CGI. Not only that, there's an actual attempt at back stories for some of the characters, character development, and some fun dialogue and an actual plot. It's a visual tour de force and quite pretty to look at in some scenes. If you grew up with an appreciation for Godzilla movies and the ilk, worth a watch for sure. B+

  11. "Clair de Lune by Debussy" Edit made this a must-see film. Unfortunately what we got was standard background music from a guy who promised his best friend, Michael Dougherty, that he would create a soundtrack that would be so big, so monumental that it was his privilege to be the one chosen to score it & that it was his biggest assignment to date. I gave it a 1/10 in my score book. it was as disappointing as the film itself. I don't remember even hearing music, to be truthful. Everything centered around darkness, storms, smoke, rain, snow, flying debris. too-close-ups & NOISE! Soundtrack? Meh.

  12. Thats what I liked about this trailer you could TELL who was who like you could distinguish who that monster was from the original movies
and the reference and call backs from the original movie in the film was just more icing on the cake making it open to more possible toho monsters Dougherty could buy the rights to

  13. A year later and this is still one of the best and most humble trailers I've ever seen, and the same goes to the movie. Awesome good time. Might just be one of the first, if not, the few western takes on an eastern franchise that respects the source material. Heck, even M. Night Shaymalamadingdong didn't respect Avatar:TLA, a western franchise, so that was very welcomed.

  14. Wow. I've seen all the old Godzilla movies except the one with the giant moth. THIS looks pretty cool, the bad military going after the Earth guardians. The Japanese were brilliant coming up with Godzilla, so why wouldn't they make this 2019 Godzilla more similar in appearance. Baby Godzilla was really cute, back then. Movies are getting better and better.

  15. I just watched it ,and is the best movie of godzillla I’ve seen I loved fuck the critics,I regretted not watching it in theaters.

  16. The human drama was horrible, but who cares this is a awesome godzilla movie(also no one cares about human drama in godzilla movies)

  17. This movie it’s just a masterpiece! The classical music makes it more ugh idk beautiful and just gorgeous ! No words for this movie but this movie has a special place in my goddamn small and majestic heart! 💛

  18. This is one of the best movie trailers I've ever seen. ✨
The movie's not bad but certainly not as good as the trailer makes u believe

  19. Did anyone else notice that the background music at 0:36 is the same as BTS : Euphoria's Music video in the beginning ? 'Claude Debussy – Clair De Lune'
