LIVE ART Short Film

We’re all going up to the stage together,
so we need a nice, orderly line… Here we go….it’s show time! Go… Fly 2, go… Ladies and gentlemen: LIVE ART! {applause}
{music} So I want to welcome you all to
the very first annual ever
Live Art Class… and we are so thrilled that you are each here to join us. We’re going to talk a lot about this… how your extremities… We sat down and she said now just bear with me,
she’s like, none of this is written down, she’s like, none of this is written down, this is all just kind
of floating around in my brain, but I have this idea. and I clearly remember she went…and I have this idea you know…and it’s just right here…and it’s just glowing you know… And we’re gonna roll right into little Bird, so
when you do that you’ll walk… And she had a vision for a project that would integrate performing arts which is what we’re all about here at SPARC, with some visual arts elements also, and tie
that in to one big musical concert, where students of all ranges and abilities could be involved. Here we go! I love it how Erin always checks in with me. Where she’s like am
I loosing my mind? Am I crazy? Or is this a good idea? I was like, this is a GREAT idea! {music} Would you sing with me… When you hear that, that is our cue to begin waving… It’s gonna be hard work, because it’s gonna be a humongous show and nobody has ever done this before. {music} They don’t fly so straight, but they suit me just fine… This is like massive… And we brought the kids in and we started having class, and… things happened that we didn’t expect I’m actually surprised just looking at him, you
know, peeking in from time to time, how engaged he is with everybody. Because a lot of
times he can be a little stand offish… a little more isolated…stand back and watch everybody else. Reach, reach, reach, grab it, grab it, and give it away! Good! Sometimes I’m just really awkward and I can’t seem to make conversation. And that’s the one thing that worried me when I came into it because… I didn’t know whether I would be the only one
who was just not able to do it… and it wasn’t hard. It wasn’t hard to make conversation. They are people. There is nothing different about them. They
are just regular people. And they are great people Music(music) ,dance (dance) , a marriage (marriage). Music , dance, a marriage. They’ll need some focus, some breathing, some help. Amanda and all of those special educators are here in
any of those moments should anybody see that and not be sure if we are just dealing
with just the heightened sense of attention or or thrill versus really having some serious anxiety Well it’s definitely crunch time so I think everyone’s a little bit nervous. And
kind of…but it’s chaotic…but at the same time it’s a lot of fun…so… everybody’s having a great time…you know..goofin off a little bit…but
it’s definitely really hectic trying to pull everythi Driving in the car on the way there, I was having a panic attack. And I was freaking out. And it just made me say “Ok”. “When I get there I can do this. And knowing my friends were there… I can do this. And knowing my friends were there… and they can do this…I can do it” I can do anything. We wanted the kids to have fun, we wanted to bring people together to create a fabulous show that touched people’s lives: the students, the teachers, the artists and the musicians We had NO IDEA what was really going to happen. From where we started back in January to where we are now — it’s AMAZING! I want them to be amazed at me. I want them to be excited. To be happy. To be proud of me. {music} reach out and let that bird inside go….fly, fly fly, It’s not that we deserve to be here… but we belong here. Every single one of us belongs here together, right now, for this. {music} Fly, fly, fly, little bird. Fly, fly, fly little bird. Would you sing and dance with wings that don’t fly. Sing with me, sing with me.
