Somewhere Over the Rainbow – The Wizard of Oz (1/8) Movie CLIP (1939) HD

Somewhere over the rainbow way up high, there’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true. Someday I’ll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops, way above the chimney tops, that’s where you’ll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow blue birds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow. Why then–oh why can’t I? If happy little blue birds fly beyond the rainbow, why oh why can’t I? The Wizard of Oz (1939)

  1. Did they abuse the dog too? He seems way to good at acting for a dog. Times back then, they would do anything for that dollar.

  2. Dioss :') me ase pensar como era en esos años como era mi abuela de pequeña sus cultos de esos años me inspira mucho esta cancion

  3. So Israel IZ made a cover of this? I feel lied to and upset… i thought he created it, altough his songs sounds beautifully i feel lied to.

  4. I never saw the wizard of oz I have seen the book somewhere over the rainbow if u don’t BELIVE n search in goggle

  5. This reminded me of a neighbor i had that was like a grandmother for me, she passed out last year, at the age of 91. I know she is happy now, over the rainbow.

  6. She is so lovely and classy in every way. In the movie, I love her facial expressions, the highs and lows of her voice, and her mannerisms. I can't help but smile when I see her. I as a 200+ Lb, 6' tall man, I would probably giggle like a school girl if I ever had the chance to meet her, in some other world that is. It's hard to imagine she is only a child, to hear her talk and sing.

  7. I remember being so moved by this song when I was little. I still am. It’s so pure and beautifully sung. It makes me want to find true happiness in life. Rest in peace Judy Garland, a dearly departed icon.

Interesting Fact: The day Judy Garland died there was a tornado in Kansas.

There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby.

And the dreams that you dare to dream,
    Really do come true.

    Way above the chimney tops,
    That's where you'll find me.

    Dear Judy,
Maybe you'll never read this but I want to tell you no matter what.
Your voice is beautiful and I started being your fan. I discovered about you some days ago and I feel so sorry to you and I hope you now live somewhere over the rainbow and in peace. Most of people weren't fair to you, and you didn't deserve that. You used to be better than Marilyn Monroe and Shirley Temple, but people are looking at most beautiful girls , but I think you're the most beautiful girl. I love you so much as I love my first favorite singer Avril Lavigne. She's also now underrated and she has lyme disease. However you didn't deserve any of these dislikes and you will always be the best Dorothy and you will always sing that song the best.
A somebody who's not over the rainbow right now :(.

  9. Sorry Renee…………why they didn't put in the real Judy's voice. Judy had an amazing voice………Renee doesn't

  17. A dream like few other recordings (or moments) of the last century.
For the record, it's officially titled simply "Over the Rainbow", not "Somewhere over the Rainbow".

  18. I’ll always love this song, and this movie, but somehow it hurts to watch it, knowing what MGM did to her while they filmed… Just saw the Judy movie… 😢
